I made a short promo for the race that's being held on saturday. I don't know how long it took to make this, about 6 hours I think, and I still got problems with the lens flare. Oh well.
Sry for double posting now but I thought I'd do that so people see there's a new post here.
I changed the link in the first post, I rendered the movie with another codec and also I didn't mess around with the aspect ratio, so it should be fine. This time, the vid is available in HD on yt.
It's strange, the aspect ratio is fine here. Although, I am reuploading a new version of the movie. No changes to the movie itself has been done, I just rendered it with another aspect ratio to see if it looks better for you guys. 4 guys who said the aspect ratio looks strange so it's time to fix that. :]
Thanks for the comments so far. I will publish the new link to the vid with another aspect ratio when it's done uploading and I'll need your pov's on it. I mean, if it doesn't look good in the eyes of the beholder, why continue using such an aspect ratio? ^^
It sounds like you used 3 different songs in this vid, which is kinda wierd for me since it's only 49 seconds long. But I guess the vid serves its purpose as a trailer.
I see your point, but on the other hand the music is so slow the first minute that there's really nothing else than slowmotion that would suit the music. Or am I way off here? I just couldn't see clips at regular speed with such slow music to it. If anything, that looks/sounds way off to me. :/
Check the first 45 seconds and you'll see how you can do it. I guess the trick is to brake earlier than the car on the inside, and hope that he'll miss the apex and leave the door open for you to sneak in there. :]
Uhm, correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is wrong. You could avoid bans by disconnecting before, now a days it doesn't matter if you leave before the vote ends. If enough players vote to ban you, you will be banned regardless of you being online on the server or not.
OnT: I personally prefer XRT when drifting. Not quite sure why, but I never really liked the FZ5 when it comes to drifting. It goes sideways way too easy imo, since it's overpowered. It's easier to get closer twins with the XRT also, but I'm sure others would say that about the FZ5 too. It all comes down to how much practise you put down in each car I guess.
Heh, yes it was. I wasn't participating in that competition myself, I just got the replay from a driver who was there. That replay contains some nice drifting I might add. :]
This movie didn't turn out the way I planned it. I thought I would make it 2 minutes of drifting, and the rest would be racing but when I started making the racing part I noticed that the song I chose didn't fit racing at all. So, I cut the song off and made a 2 minute long drifting movie instead, which makes the intro to this movie a bit strange. At least in my eyes. :]
I admit that I got some inspiration from a movie I no longer can find in these forums, but some of you might recognize both the song I chose, and the type of style the movie have.
Please note: For some reason (I don't know why), the sound is about 2-3 seconds behind the first 16 seconds before it catches up and it syncs as it should. Now, when I play the movie in VLC, everything is fine, it syncs as it should. But when uploaded to vimeo the sound is behind but somehow catches up. When uploaded to youtube, it's out of sync completely all the way through. I'm using an older version of 3ivx codec, any ideas on how to solve this problem?
For a vid to be good it needs to be entertaining for the audience. If the audience finds the vid boring, poorly done or whatever, it's something that the creator of the vid should think of and instead of ignoring the opinions from his audience he should listen to them and consider doing what the audience finds interesting/good. I mean, why make videos and publish them if you're not doing it for the audience?
You can say what you want about following norms etc, that seems to be your strongest argument here, but in the long run I think you understand my point when I say that if you don't catch the interest from the audience, you won't get far as an LFS vid creator either. Continue making 5-10 of these vids and people will eventually stop looking at your threads. Why? Because you ignored the tips on how to make the rest of us interested.
